Tests: Tests are given periodically throughout the quarter, generally at the end of a chapter.  The tests will be announced several days to at least a week in advance.  All tests are to be taken in dark blue or black ink, unless a scantron is being used.  At the end of the quarter tests will be averaged and will be worth 60% of the quarter grade.

 

Quizzes:  Quizzes are given on a weekly basis throughout the quarter.  These quizzes could be based on vocabulary, notes from the preceding day’s lectures, assigned reading materials and maps.  Quizzes may be announced or unannounced.  All quizzes are to be taken in dark blue or black ink.  At the end of the quarter the quizzes will be averaged and will be worth 30% of the quarter grade.

 

Homework:  Homework may consist of reading assignments, written questions, maps, worksheets, or other projects.  This homework may be checked by several methods.  It may be checked by handing out the homework in to be graded for completion and correctness.  The homework may be checked by having the students write down answers to previously teacher-selected questions.  At the end of the quarter the homework will be averaged and will be worth 10% of the quarter grade.

 

Absences: If you are absent from class, it is YOUR responsibility to find out the assignments you missed and to make arrangements to make up the material covered during absences.  All make up work must be completed within 3 days unless there are extenuating circumstances.
